A car dealer sold our trade-in before financing approved.

Original financing fell thru and we couldn''t get our trade-in back because they had sold it !!! They now have $800 cash and have found new financing - but we want our trade-in back

If you did not have a contract allowing them to sell the car immediately, then you have a breach of contract case against the seller and they are liable to you for your damages. It is unclear whether they can get your specific car back since the buyer was not a party to any contract with you. If the dealer only had contingent permission to sell your vehicle upon financing, then you still have a breach of contract case against them. Try to negotiate a settlement with them and if you cannot, you can sue them in small claims court or you can hire an attorney and sue them in district court. I am sorry that this has happened to you.
